Maersk Issues Fresh Advisory on Changes to Cargo Routed via Jeddah
Chennai:
Port Wings News Network:
Shipping major Maersk on 12 June 2026 issued an advisory to its customers that “selected transshipment cargo currently routed via Jeddah will be redirected through alternative regional hubs” until further notice to ensure service continuity and minimize disruptions.
Maersk also announced that they will continue to implement temporary adjustments across its Jeddah gateway network and to alleviate operational pressure at the terminal and maintain service continuity.
CARGO ROUTING ARRANGEMENTS
Cargo that will continue to be handled through Jeddah:
-Shipments destined for Kuwait and Bahrain moving under Carrier Haulage solutions.
-Shipments destined for local Saudi Arabian consignees, including Jeddah, Dammam and Riyadh (via the established Jeddah Landbridge solution).
Cargo that will be rerouted via alternative Gulf hubs:
All other cargo on merchant haulage destined for Kuwait, Bahrain, Iraq, UAE, and Qatar currently routing via Jeddah and/or discharged in Jeddah will be transshipped through Salalah and Khor Fakkan, followed by land transportation to Sharjah, where cargo will connect to its destination through our intra-Gulf feeder network.
“This routing adjustment also applies to cargo booked for Jeddah where the consignee is not based in Saudi Arabia,” added the new Customer Advisory from Maersk.
