V.O. Chidambaranar Port Marks Milestone, Handles its First Crude Palm Oil Vessel at Coal Jetty–2

V.O. Chidambaranar Port on 28 August 2026 marked a significant milestone by handling its first crude Palm Oil vessel at Coal Jetty–2, which has been re-modified with dedicated pipelines connecting the berth to storage tanks located five kms away.

The vessel MT ZY Galaxy, carrying 15,000 tonnes of crude Palm Oil from Kunak, Malaysia, berthed at VOC Port on 28 August 2026. The discharge operations were launched by Susanta Kumar Purohit, IRSEE, Chairperson, VOC Port Authority (VOCPA) in the presence of Rajesh Soundararajan, IAS, Deputy Chairperson, K.T.V. Narayanan, Managing Director, KTV Health Food Private Limited, and senior Port officials.

With four storage tanks and refining capacity of 1,000 tonnes of Palmolein per day established by KTV Health Food Private Limited in the Port’s industrial zone, this development further strengthens VOC Port’s role in facilitating efficient liquid bulk handling, industrial connectivity and regional trade. From global cargo to regional consumption, VOC Port keeps enabling trade, industry and growth.
