Paradip Port Achieves Historic Milestone

Paradip Port Authority (PPA) on 28 July 2025 announced a monumental achievement, having clocked an unprecedented 50.00 Million Metric Tonnes (MMT) of cargo throughput in the current fiscal year.

According to a media statement from the port authority, this remarkable feat has been accomplished in record time, making it the fastest 50 MMT ever handled in the Port’s illustrious history, underscoring its escalating efficiency and operational prowess.

The Port reached this significant milestone within the first four months of the current financial year, achieving it four days in advance compared to the previous year.

This impressive performance is a testament to the robust strategies and dedicated efforts of Team PPA, coupled with continuous support from stakeholders. Key cargo segments have shown significant growth:

Coal Cargo:

Reached 22.06 MMT, exhibiting a growth of 0.53% over the corresponding period of the previous fiscal, contributing significantly to the overall volume.

Container Cargo:

Witnessed an exceptional growth of 27.80% over the same period, highlighting the Port’s expanding capabilities and diversification.

Crude Oil:

Reached 11.36 MMT, exhibiting a growth of 14.97% over the corresponding period of the previous fiscal, contributing significantly to the overall volume.

Fertilizer Raw material:

Witnessed a growth of 8.41%

Commenting on the development, P.L. Haranadh, Chairman, PPA, expressed his profound gratitude to Sarbananda Sonowal, Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways, for his dynamic leadership and unwavering guidance.

Haranadh stated: “Together, with the unwavering support of our dedicated workforce and strong support of our customers, we shall continue to script remarkable success stories for Paradip Port—a story that exemplifies growth, sustainability, and a brighter future for the Port.”

He further extended his appreciation to all officers, employees, user industries, stevedores, steamer agents, trade unions, and PPP operators for their continued faith and collaboration, which have been instrumental in achieving this record.

This achievement solidifies Paradip Port’s position as a leading maritime gateway in India, poised for even greater heights. With enhanced operational efficiencies and strategic infrastructure developments, PPA is confident of achieving its set target in cargo throughput for the current FY 2025-26.
