Engineering Dept and IFFCO Emerge Champions in PPA-hosted Cricket Tournament

The Valedictory Function of the 6th Inter-Department Cricket Tournament and the 5th Corporate Cricket Tournament 2026 was held on 19 April at Gopabandhu Stadium, Paradip, marking the successful conclusion of an exciting sporting event organized under the aegis of Paradip Port Authority (PPA).

The function was graced by Chief Guest A.K. Bose, Advisor (Traffic), PPA, in the presence of Heads of Departments and other senior officials.

Addressing the gathering, the dignitaries highlighted the importance of teamwork, unity, and sportsmanship. They noted that such tournaments go beyond the game, helping build trust, coordination, and strong professional relationships among employees. They also encouraged participants to uphold fairness, safety, and the true spirit of the game.

During the valedictory function, trophies, medals, and awards were presented to the winning teams, runners-up, and outstanding performers in recognition of their excellent performances and sporting spirit.

In the final match of the Inter-Department Cricket Tournament, the Engineering Department scored 112/8 in 15 overs. Chasing the target, the Electrical & Mechanical Department scored 93/9 in 15 overs. The Engineering Department secured victory by 19 runs and lifted the championship trophy.

In the final of the Corporate Cricket Tournament, both Paradip Port Authority and IFFCO finished with equal scores, leading to a thrilling Super Over. IFFCO won the match and emerged champions.

The tournament was conducted under the leadership of H.S. Rout, Chief Engineer and President, GKS, and Dr. D.P. Sethy, Senior Deputy CMO and Working President, GKS. Their collective efforts were instrumental in successfully organizing this prestigious sporting event.

The tournaments witnessed enthusiastic participation, spirited performances, and strong support from employees, stakeholders, and sports enthusiasts throughout the event. Matches held under floodlights in the evening created a vibrant atmosphere and added to the excitement for both players and spectators.
