Additional Secretary From MoPSW Visits V.O. Chidambaranar Port, Reviews Development Initiatives

Mukesh Mangal, ITS, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Government of India, on 14 August 2026 visited V.O. Chidambaranar Port and reviewed various development initiatives undertaken by the Port Authority.
During the visit, Mukesh Mangal inaugurated an Atmospheric Water Generator at the North Fire Station of V.O. Chidambaranar Port. The unit produces safe drinking water from atmospheric humidity through multi-level filtration and mineral enrichment.
As part of the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ celebrations, Mukesh Mangal, ITS, participated in the flag hoisting at the 30-metre-high Flag Mast in front of the Green Gate and flagged off the CISF Rally from the Green Gate to Tuticorin Thermal Power Station (TTPS) Roundana and the Employees Rally from the Green Gate to the Administrative Office.
It was followed by the singing of ‘Vande Mataram’. The Port also organised various ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ activities, including distribution of National Flags to officers and staff and hoisting of National Flags at the residences of Port employees and CISF personnel, Port tugs and Indian vessels, and various Port establishments and operational locations.
Later, Mukesh Mangal inspected the Green Hydrogen Plant, Green Methanol Bunkering & Refuelling Facility and Port’s operational areas. He also visited the Digital Twin Centre, where he was briefed on the Port’s digital initiatives.
Susanta Kumar Purohit, IRSEE, Chairperson, V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority, made a presentation on the Port’s performance and future plans.
Speaking on the occasion, Mukesh Mangal appreciated the Port’s emphasis on quality, cleanliness and green initiatives. He also commended the Port’s contribution to the upcoming shipbuilding cluster and its efforts towards the welfare of the Port community.
Susanta Kumar Purohit, IRSEE, Chairperson, V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority, conveyed that the visit of Mukesh Mangal provided valuable guidance and an opportunity for constructive interaction on the Port’s ongoing activities. He expressed confidence that such interactions would further strengthen coordination between the Port and the Ministry.
