The annual Dr. S. Xavier Britto Endowment Lecture, hosted by Loyola Institute of Business Administration (LIBA) and slated for 13 March every year, is a platform for bringing together prominent voices from the logistics and supply chain sector, senior members of K-Indev Logistics, academicians, and aspiring students of LIBA.

Vision for a Dedicated Logistics University

Delivering the inaugural address, Dr. S. Xavier Britto, Chairman and Founder of K-Indev Logistics and XB Group, outlined his ambition to establish a specialised “XB University” focused on logistics and supply chain studies.

Dr. S. Xavier Britto stated: “There is an overall disturbance in the global economy. As Indians, now we need to be very sensitive and also we need to become more flexible and anticipating so many other aspects and results in the near future.”

Speaking about the significance of logistics sector, Dr. S. Xavier Britto said, “In another five years time, we require almost 10 million jobs in this area. So naturally we need to produce more and more skilled logisticians in this country for which we need a structured syllabus and also a curriculum. In this connection only Mr. Rajan Babu and his team, with my guidance, they have worked on these books. We have just started another six to eight books are in the pipeline.”

“I have given them very clear idea that is with all my experience this industry can offer more than eight [types of] jobs and all the jobs are very lucrative and these jobs have to be supported by minimum 16 subjects for which we need to write books and make it more. There are some articles and so on and in a small way, there are some books, but that is not the way [to achieve the objective]. What I thought the way forward, we need the structured way of teaching for which we need books. So accordingly, we have done these two books,” he added.

“And finally, as I always say that God has given us fingerprint, but what is more important in life is that we have to make a imprint and such legacies of creating something new and as I have been doing for the four decades,” concluded Dr. S. Xavier Britto.

Rethinking Leadership in Supply Chains

The keynote lecture was delivered by Dr. Arvind Sharma, Director – Supply Chain (South Asia), Fresenius Medical Care India, who spoke on the theme: “Metrics, Mindset and Meanings: The Making of Supply Chain Leaders.”

He highlighted that leadership in supply chains today extends beyond efficiency and cost control. Stressing a more holistic approach, he noted the need for data-driven performance measurement, adaptive thinking in uncertain global environments and a deeper understanding of the broader impact of supply chain decisions

The annual event underscored a broader objective — developing skilled professionals equipped to navigate the complexities of modern supply chains – where trail-blazing initiatives like these are essential to nurturing future leaders who will shape the direction of global trade and logistics.
