To bolster trade connections with the industrial hubs of Tiruppur and Coimbatore, VO Chidambaranar (VOC) Port, in collaboration with Dakshin Bharat Gateway Terminal (DBGT) and Tuticorin International Container Terminal (TICT), is hosting a pivotal “Trade Facilitation Meet” in Tiruppur at 6 PM on 10 October 2025.

This strategic initiative aims to attract exporters and importers from the region to leverage VOC Port’s advanced infrastructure for their cargo needs, strengthening the port’s role as a key gateway for South India’s trade.

Tiruppur, India’s knitwear capital, generates over $4 billion in annual exports, primarily textiles, contributing significantly to VOC Port’s cargo volume. The port, Tamil Nadu’s second-largest and India’s fourth-busiest container terminal, handled 4.28 million TEUs in the first half of 2025, with Tiruppur’s textiles accounting for 40% of its outbound cargo and 30% of inbound raw materials like dyes and yarns. Coimbatore, a burgeoning industrial center, further amplifies the region’s economic significance with its engineering and manufacturing sectors.

The Trade Facilitation Meet seeks to foster direct dialogue between VOC Port authorities, DBGT, TICT, and regional stakeholders, including exporters, importers, and logistics providers. Key discussions will focus on optimizing EXIM (export-import) processes, implementing Sagarmala strategies to enhance port-hinterland connectivity, and forging robust partnerships with port users.
