Sachin Kurve Named Chairperson of Chennai Port Authority

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has appointed Sachin Sharatachandra Kurve as the new Chairperson of the Chennai Port Authority.

Kurve, a 2003-batch IAS officer of the Uttarakhand Cadre, has been appointed at the Joint Secretary level for a tenure of five years from the date of assuming charge or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

The order stated that Kurve will succeed Sunil Paliwal, who previously held the post.

Sachin Shardchandra Kurve (often referred to as Kurve Sachin Shardchandra) is a 2003-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the Uttarakhand Cadre. Kurve, who hails from Maharashtra, has completed B.E. (Mechanical Engineering).

Before this appointment, he also served as Secretary for Departments including Taxes & Industries, Government of Uttarakhand. According to details, he has over two decades of experience in the Indian Administrative Service, with extensive work in Land Revenue, Industries, and Planning & Program Implementation. His longest posting was for about 3 years and 10 months as Secretary at Tourism.
