Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP) has surpassed the 13 million TEU milestone for the first time in its history, marking PTP as the first single terminal in Malaysia to reach this annual record, according to a statement issued by the port authority on its social media page in Linkedin on 9 December.
According to the details available, this achievement was recorded on 6 December 2025 at 6.43 am, accomplished with the handling of Vessel GSL VINIA.
“Reaching 13 million TEUs marks an important moment for PTP, especially as we celebrate our 25th Anniversary. It reflects the discipline of our operations, the strength of our teams on the ground and the collective commitment that continues to anchor PTP as Malaysia’s leading transshipment hub,” said the port authority in the statement.
“This milestone belongs to everyone who has been part of our journey. To our workforce, customers, partners and stakeholders, thank you for your trust, dedication and continued support. Together, we carry forward the spirit of 25 Years of Excellence as we move towards the next chapter with purpose and ambition,” added the statement.
The port management also thanked everyone for being part of this remarkable journey. The terminal’s 13 million TEU result extends a run of record volumes after handling 12,253,309 TEU in 2024, which surpassed the 11.2 million TEU achieved in 2021. PTP attributed that performance to multiple operational peaks, including a monthly high of more than 1.11 million TEU in July 2024 and several months above one million TEU.
