Chennai Port Hosts Walkathon to Promote “India Maritime Week 2025”

With a view to highlight the criticality of maintaining a healthy workforce in fueling India’s maritime prowess and to promote the “India Maritime Week 2025” scheduled to be held in Mumbai this month-end, the Chennai Port Authority on 13 October 2025 organized a walkathon, starting from the Administrative Building to the War Memorial at Rajaji Salai and back.
The event, led by Sunil Paliwal, I.A.S., Chairperson of Chennai Port Authority & Chairman of Kamarajar Port Ltd., S. Viswanathan, I.A.S., Deputy Chairperson of Chennai Port Authority, J.P.Irene Cynthia, I.A.S., Managing Director of Kamarajar Port Ltd., and S.Murali Krishnan, I.D.A.S., Chief Vigilance Officer of Chennai Port Authority and Kamarajar Port Ltd.
The Walkathon was graced by the presence of V.Anandkumar, the 22-year-old speed skating prodigy from Chennai, who recently became the first Indian to win a gold medal at the Speed Skating World Championship in Beidaihe, China. Enthusiastically addressing the participants, the gold medalist encouraged the gathering to maintain a healthy lifestyle to boost their workplace productivity.
Sunil Paliwal in his address highlighted the upcoming India Maritime Week 2025, from 27-31 October in Mumbai. Paliwal elaborated on the importance of the week-long event which is set to bring together global leaders, innovators, and policymakers to explore sustainable maritime growth, trade opportunities, and technological advancements in the maritime sector. He also mentioned the significance of building maximum momentum for the event, aimed at improving India’s rank amidst the maritime nations of the world.
S. Viswanathan thanked the participants for joining the walk, focusing on the importance of a collaborative approach amidst stakeholders, port users, employees of Chennai Port Authority and the community encouraging them to carry forward this spirit of togetherness into the India Maritime Week 2025.
Set to be a confluence of ideas and confidence, India Maritime Week (IMW) is a premier event uniting maritime experts, innovators, and leaders from around the world. It will showcase the latest advancements in maritime technology and encourage collaboration across the industry, with 1,00,000+ delegates, 100+ countries, 200+ global speakers, and 500+ exhibitors. It will stand as a testament to India’s maritime advancements in the recent past, marked by flagship initiatives like Maritime India Vision 2030, Maritime Amrit Kaal Vision 2047, and Sagarmala, ultimately highlighting the importance of the sector in shaping a Viksit Bharat. The event is scheduled to be held from 27th October 2025 to 31st October 2025 at the Bombay Exhibition Center, Mumbai.
