Chennai Port Hits Major Digital Milestone, First Indian Major Port to Receive WQCS Certification

Chennai Port Authority on 24 January 2026 announced that it has become the first Indian Major Port to receive certification under the Website Quality Certification Scheme (WQCS) for compliance with GIGW 3.0.
According to a statement posted on the port authority’s social media, “This milestone reflects our commitment to accessible, secure, and user-centric digital governance, aligned with global standards such as WCAG 2.1 and national best practices.”
Chennai Port Authority is setting the benchmark for inclusive and future-ready digital public infrastructure, added the statement.
