Chennai Port Authority Celebrates “Port Day 2025” With Grandeur

The Chennai Port Authority celebrated Port Day 2025 with great fervour and enthusiasm at the office premises on 14 November 2025. The occasion marked a significant milestone in the port’s history with 144 years since its constitution, and the event was attended by port users, stakeholders, and employees.

The celebrations began with a vibrant cultural program, featuring performances by Samagratha Foundation, a musical group comprising specially abled children, fostering the spirit of inclusivity and togetherness.

Following the cultural program, Sunil Paliwal, IAS, Chairperson, Chennai Port Authority, felicitated outstanding port users and awarded them for their contributions to the port’s growth and development. The Chairperson also presented awards to the winners of the competitions organized to commemorate the 150th year of Vande Mataram, India’s national song.

n his address, the Chairperson highlighted the recent achievements of the Port, expressing gratitude towards the port users, stakeholders, and employees, promising continued cooperation in becoming a Futuristic Port with Foresight. Initiatives of the Port such as the Maduravoyal Elevated Corridor Project and the Multimodal Logistics Park at Mappedu, aimed at realizing the ultimate vision of Viksit Bharat, were also highlighted.

Further, the Chairperson emphasized that the focus of Chennai Port is not only on profits but also on sustainable development with community empowerment. Chennai Port remains committed to continuous development and progress, contributing to the Maritime India Vision 2030 and Maritime Amrit Kaal Vision 2047 with its initiatives.
