The Chennai Airport and Air Cargo Commissionerates celebrated the 79th Independence Day with great enthusiasm and patriotic spirit at the New Custom House, Meenambakkam, Chennai.
The celebrations commenced with the unfurling of the National Flag by Dr. M. G. Thamizh Valavan, Principal Commissioner of Customs, Chennai Airport and Air Cargo.
The Principal Commissioner inspected the ceremonial guard and addressed the gathering, recalling the sacrifices of the freedom fighters and highlighting the pivotal role of the Customs Department in safeguarding the nation’s economic frontiers.
In his address, Dr. M G Thamizh Valavan urged officers and staff to uphold the values of integrity, dedication, and service to the nation, and to continue contributing towards the country’s growth and security. He also commended the collective efforts of officers and staff in ensuring trade facilitation, enforcement, and passenger welfare.
The event witnessed active participation from officers, staff members, and their families. Certificates of appreciation were awarded to officers and staff for exemplary service.
