AMET University Hosts Tamil Nadu’s First ‘Viksit Bharat – Yuva Connect 2026’

AMET University marked a significant milestone on 20 February 2026 by becoming the first university in the Tamil Nadu zone to host the Viksit Bharat – Yuva Connect 2026 programme, a national youth outreach initiative of the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports.

The event brought together more than 300 students, faculty members, and Youth Icon to deliberate on India’s roadmap towards becoming a developed nation by 2047.

The programme commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp on the university campus. Dr. N.R. Ramkumar, Joint Registrar, delivered the Presidential Address, underscoring the pivotal role of students in fostering innovation, entrepreneurship and inclusive growth in alignment with the national vision.

The keynote address was delivered by Kiruthika A, Youth Icon from the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports (Government of India).

Marking the 150th year of Vande Mataram, she called upon students to transform themselves from passive observers into active nation-builders through responsible governance, civic engagement and community leadership. She emphasized that youth participation would be the driving force behind achieving the goals of Viksit Bharat 2047.

A major highlight of the programme was an interactive dialogue session where students articulated their suggestions. The exchange encouraged meaningful discussions on education, innovation, sustainability and youth empowerment.

Another key attraction was the “My Bharat Budget Quest,” a campus-wide digital quiz aimed at enhancing financial literacy among students. More than 310 students participated enthusiastically. High-performing participants were informed of a potential opportunity to interact with the Prime Minister of India as part of national-level recognition.

Dr. Sasilatha T, Principal (General Programmes), reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to nurturing socially responsible leaders and promoting civic consciousness among youth. The event was coordinated by Dr. S. Ramalingam, Dean – Student Welfare, Dr. G.Jenitha Associate Dean Student Welfare and Dr. V.T. Vimalananth, Associate Dean Student Welfare.
