Adani Ports Launches ICD at Malur To Power South India’s Trade Connectivity

To power the South India’s Trade Connectivity and to provide more opportunity for EXIM fraternity in Bengaluru, Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (APSEZ) on 12 December commissioned its new Inland Container Depot (ICD) at Malur near Bengaluru.

According to Ashwani Gupta, CEO, APSEZ, “We marked a significant milestone with the launch of Adani ICD Malur.” The inauguration was celebrated in Bengaluru, in the presence of more than250 valued customers and partners.

Why ICDMalur is a game-changer:

Strategic Location: Ideally positioned along the Bengaluru–Chennai railway main line near Malur station, equipped with its own rail siding and direct road access via NE7 and NH44.

Strong Port Connectivity: Seamless links to Adani Kattupalli, Ennore, Vizhinjam, Chennai, and JNPA ports.

Future-Ready Infrastructure: Spread across 30 acres with an additional 21 acres earmarked for expansion, supported by advanced TOS & GOS systems, real-time control towers, warehousing, and on-site customs clearance.

Industrial Advantage: Close proximity to Karnataka’s major industrial hubs and the state borders of Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.

“With this launch, we add another feather to the Adani Ports and SEZ crown, reinforcing our commitment to end-to-end connectivity—from port gates to factory gates—across 11,000 km of coastline with 95% hinterland coverage,” Ashwani Gupta added in his social media post.

It may be noted that the Commissioner of Customs, City Customs, Bengaluru vide Notification No. 01/2025-NT dated 24.10.2025 issued under Section 8 of the Customs Act, 1962 has approved the ICD at Malur, Karnataka, as a place for unloading of Imported goods and loading of Exported goods and specified the limits of the Customs area of the ICD.

Further, the Commissioner of Customs, City Customs, Bengaluru on 24.10.2025 appointed M/s. Adani Logistics Ltd. as “Custodian” of the imported goods received at the ICD, Malur, Kolar, until these are cleared for home consumption, or are warehoused, or are transshipped in accordance with the provisions of Chapter VII and VIII of the Customs Act, 1962, and of the export cargo brought into the said ICD for examination and stuffing, till their exportation.

With M/s Adani Logistics Limited, ICD Malur at Plot Sy. Nos. 147/2, 145, 113-1&2, Dyapasandra village road, near Malur railway station, Malur, Kolar District, Karnataka-563130 (INMLO6), the Customs Cargo Service Provider, has fulfilled the requirements of the Customs Act, 1962 as well as the provisions of Handling of Cargo in Customs Area Regulation, 2009, therefore, in terms of the provisions under regulation 8 of the HCCAR, 2009, S.P. Singh, Commissioner of Customs, City Customs, Bengaluru, permitted Adani Logistics Limited to commence the operations in the said ICD with effect from 30 October 2025.
