Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA), India’s largest container port, celebrated the 80th Independence Day with patriotic fervour and pride at the JNPA premises.

Gaurav Dayal, IAS, Chairperson, JNPA, hoisted the National Flag in the presence of Ravish Kumar Singh, IRTS, Deputy Chairperson, JNPA, CISF Commandant, Board Members, Heads of Departments, employees and CISF officials.

Addressing the gathering, Gaurav Dayal, IAS, Chairperson, JNPA, said, “Independence Day is an occasion to reflect on the values of freedom, responsibility and nationbuilding. As an organisation entrusted with a vital role in India’s maritime and economic growth, JNPA remains dedicated to performing its responsibilities with integrity, efficiency and a spirit of service to the nation. The celebration of our national symbols reminds us that every contribution, however small, has a role in building a stronger and more self-reliant India.”

The Independence Day celebrations at JNPA extended beyond the ceremonial programme, with a series of activities organised throughout the week to celebrate the spirit of independence under the Prime Minister’s ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ initiative.

The programmes brought together JNPA employees, school children and the wider port community through activities centred on patriotism and national pride. These included a quiz and patriotic poem recitation competition for JNPA employees, Vande Mataram recitation with the Har Ghar Tiranga theme, a rally by JNPA school children, rendition of the National Anthem and patriotic songs, and an elocution competition.

Through these initiatives, JNPA celebrated Independence Day as an occasion not only to honour the nation’s freedom struggle but also to reinforce the values of unity, responsibility and active participation in nation-building.
