Paradip Port Organises Awareness-cum-Workshop on Four Labour Codes

Paradip Port Authority (PPA) on 31 July organised an Awareness-cum-Workshop on the Four Labour Codes at its New Board Room to promote awareness on labour law reforms, statutory compliance, workers’ welfare and workplace safety.
The workshop was attended by P.L. Haranadh, IRTS, Chairman, Paradip Port Authority, with Chiranjeev Saikia, Deputy Chief Labour Commissioner (Central), Bhubaneswar, under the Office of the Chief Labour Commissioner (Central), New Delhi, attending as the Chief Guest. Jayanta Prasad Behera, Regional Labour Commissioner (Central), Bhubaneswar, was also present on the occasion.
The programme was attended by Principal Employers, local trade union leaders, contractors, employers, officials of the Labour Department, officers of the Deputy Chief Labour Commissioner (Central), Bhubaneswar, Heads of Departments (HODs) and senior officers of Paradip Port Authority.
In his keynote address, Haranadh stated that Paradip Port Authority functions on the principles of trust, responsibility and teamwork, with the welfare of both regular and contractual workers. He highlighted that the Government of India’s Four Labour Codes aim to simplify labour laws while strengthening social security, workplace safety and workers’ rights.
The Chairman highlighted PPA’s employee welfare initiatives, including enhanced benefits for contractual workers, mandatory free health check-ups every three years, multilingual safety awareness measures and the launch of a fully funded one-week safety training programme for workers, including those engaged under Public-Private Partnership (PPP) projects.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Guest Chiranjeev Saikia appreciated Paradip Port Authority for proactively organising the workshop and described it as a commendable initiative towards strengthening labour law compliance and promoting constructive engagement between employers and workers.
Technical experts conducted detailed sessions on the Four Labour Codes and demonstrated the use of the Shram Suvidha Portal for registrations, licences and statutory returns, as well as the Samadhan Portal for grievance redressal, dispute resolution and claims.
Krishna Bapi Raju G., Secretary, Paradip Port Authority, also addressed the gathering and emphasized the importance of awareness, compliance and collaborative efforts for the effective implementation of the Labour Codes.
The programme concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session. Shri Krishna Bapi Raju G. thanked the Chief Guest, dignitaries, officials, employers, contractors, trade union representatives and participants for their active involvement and reaffirmed PPA’s commitment to ensuring a safe, compliant and worker-friendly work environment.
The members of local unions and employees actively participated in the deliberations, which helped in developing a better understanding of the provisions and implementation of the Labour Codes.
