Department of Economic Affairs Delegation Visits Paradip Port

A high-level delegation from the Department of Economic Affairs (DEA), Ministry of Finance, Government of India, led by Juhi Mukherjee, Joint Secretary, DEA, on 11 May 2026 visited Paradip Port Authority (PPA) as part of the Government of India’s field outreach programme aimed at engaging directly with industry stakeholders and understanding sectoral challenges.

The delegation visited the Administrative Building of Paradip Port Authority and held detailed discussions with senior officials of the port on key issues related to port infrastructure, logistics, trade facilitation, industrial growth, operational efficiency and future expansion plans.

P. L. Haranadh, IRTS, Chairman, Paradip Port Authority, welcomed the delegation in the presence of T. Venu Gopal, Deputy Chairman, A.K. Bose, Advisor (Traffic Manager), along with Heads of Departments and senior officials of PPA.

During the interaction, Paradip Port Authority highlighted the port’s strategic importance in India’s maritime trade ecosystem and its vital contribution towards handling major cargo volumes, supporting industrial growth and strengthening the logistics network of the eastern region.

The discussions also focused on infrastructure development initiatives, multimodal connectivity, mechanisation, operational challenges and measures being undertaken to improve efficiency and ease of doing business at the port.

The DEA delegation’s visit provided an important platform for constructive dialogue between policy makers and industry stakeholders, enabling better understanding of on-ground realities and future requirements of the maritime and industrial sectors. Paradip Port Authority reaffirmed its commitment towards supporting national economic growth through world-class port infrastructure, efficient cargo handling and sustainable development initiatives.
