Ocean Network Express (ONE), one of the world’s leading liner shipping companies and headquartered in Singapore, has successfully completed a long-term partnership agreement with Dongwon Group by acquiring an indirect but meaningful share in its secondary subsidiary, Dongwon Global Terminal Busan (DGT).
DGT is South Korea’s first fully automated container terminal, utilizing Automated Guided Vehicle (AGV) operations in Busan. Upon completion of its final development stage, DGT will have a capacity exceeding 4.5 million TEU (twenty-foot equivalent units), including five berths (1,750m) and one feeder berth (385m).
This strategic investment involving DGT strengthens ONE’s presence in the region, ensuring enhanced service quality and reliable connections for its customers. Given Busan’s position as a significant transshipment hub and local gateway, this strategic partnership will enable ONE to optimize cargo flows and manage transshipment operations more effectively. This will lead to improved overall reliability and network stability for customers shipping through the region.
Commenting on the development, Hiroki Tsujii, Global Chief Officer of ONE’s Product and Network division, said, “This strategic partnership supports our long-term growth ambitions and ensures consistent, high-quality service for our customers. By securing direct access to capacity in this key port region, customers can benefit from more reliable and stable connections within Asia and the broader global network.”
It may be noted that ONE operates a fleet of over 260 vessels with a capacity exceeding 2 million TEUs. Through its extensive global network, ONE provides reliable container shipping services to over 120 countries.
