Danish Delegation Visits Deendayal Port to Explore Collaborative Opportunities in Sustainable Port Development

Marking an important engagement towards strengthening cooperation in the maritime and sustainability domains, a delegation from Denmark on 14 January 2026 visited Deendayal Port Authority, Kandla. The delegation was led by Josefine Pallesen, Maritime Counsellor, Embassy of Denmark.

During the visit, detailed deliberations were held with Sushil Kumar Singh, IRSME, Chairman DPA, on pathways towards zero-carbon emissions, adoption of green technologies and collaborative opportunities for sustainable port development.

Chairman DPA apprised the delegation of the Port’s forward-looking initiatives in decarbonisation, renewable energy integration, green fuels and environmentally responsible operations. Nilabhra Dasgupta, IRS, Dy. Chairman & J.K. Rathod, CPES, CVO were also present during the discussions and highlighted DPA’s ongoing efforts to promote innovation, resilience and sustainability across port infrastructure and operations.

As part of the visit, the Danish delegation also visited the Make-in-India 1-MW Green Hydrogen Plant at Kandla, a pioneering initiative reflecting DPA’s commitment towards clean energy transition and its vision of emerging as a Green Hydrogen Hub.

Adding a vibrant cultural dimension to the visit, the delegation joined the Makar Sankranti / Uttarayan celebrations, where they enjoyed traditional kite flying with the DPA Officials & employees at Administrative Office Building-Gandhidham, experiencing India’s rich festive spirit and warm hospitality.

According to a media statement, the visit underscores the growing partnership in the maritime sector, particularly in the areas of green ports, clean energy and sustainable logistics, reinforcing DPA’s resolve to build a future-ready, environmentally responsible port aligned with global best practices.
