Volga-Dnepr’s Giant An-124-100 Transports Superheavy Cargo From China to Congo

Volga-Dnepr Airlines, a major carrier specializing in the transportation of outsized and superheavy cargo, organized a direct charter flight with dedicated equipment from Tianjin (China) to Lubumbashi (the Democratic Republic of the Congo). A 32-ton line reactor is to support stable power supply and efficiency of the energy system across the country.

The flight was preceded by two months of intense and thorough preparations of the whole team, covering on-site visits to the manufacturer’s factory, design and production of a transportation frame together with software mathematical modeling of structural strength during flight, and regular online meetings directly with the principal to guarantee safe transportation of technically sophisticated equipment.

Once the team received all the calculations and cargo specifications, An-124-100 was chosen as the most efficient transportation option. Its spacious cargo compartment, together with technical capabilities and onboard loading equipment, made it possible to deliver a 32-ton line reactor together with transportation frame and related equipment.
