Indian Chamber of Commerce Organises “Puducherry – A Gateway for MSMEs”

The Branch Secretariat, Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, Chennai, in association with the Department of Industries, Government of Puducherry, and the Indian Chamber of Commerce, organised a business event titled “Puducherry – A Gateway for MSMEs” on 11 September 2025 in Puducherry.
Kailashnathan, Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and Namassivayam, Minister for Home, Commerce and Industries, was the Guest of Honour.
In his address, the Lt. Governor highlighted Puducherry’s MSME friendly investor ecosystem, explaining the ease of doing business initiatives and the various business opportunities available for MSMEs.
He also emphasized that the Government is focusing on the development of IT hubs in Puducherry to create new avenues for entrepreneurs.
The Minister, in his remarks, reiterated that the Government of Puducherry is extending strong support to MSMEs and added that several policy measures are underway to ensure a robust business environment for entrepreneurs and create BEST Puducherry according to the vision of the PM of India.
Further, S. Vijayakumar, IFS, Head of Branch Secretariat, Ministry of External Affairs, Chennai, highlighted the various measures and support extended by the Government of India to strengthen the MSME sector.
A. Vikranthraja, Secretary-cum-Director, Industries and Commerce, Government of Puducherry, explained the support initiatives and promotional efforts being undertaken by the Government of Puducherry for promotion of Green MSMEs. He also outlined the future business events planned by the Govt. of Puducherry in association with FIEO and various trade bodies. The programme witnessed active participation from MSME entrepreneurs representing eminent Chambers of Commerce, along with the presence of foreign Consul Generals based in Chennai and Puducherry. The event proved to be highly informative and beneficial for the MSME community, offering valuable insights into opportunities for growth, support systems, and avenues for export promotion.
