CPCL Celebrates Independence Day; MD Announces Company Received License for Retail Marketing

The 79th Independence Day was celebrated with enthusiasm at Chennai Petroleum Corporation Limited’s (CPCL) Manali Refinery complex on 15 August 2025. H. Shankar, Managing Director, CPCL, hoisted the National Flag and took the salute from Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) contingent stationed at CPCL.
Speaking on the occasion, Shankar said, “Since Independence, India has transformed from a developing nation to the fourth-largest economy in the world. CPCL also shared a similar growth journey to become the best refinery in India.”
The Managing Director announced CPCL’s Sports Scholarship for aspiring sports persons and athletes named SPARC which stands for Sports Promotion and Recognition by CPCL. This aligns with the Government’s recently launched Kheto Bharat Niti 2025 on 1 July 2025, with the vision “Sports for Nation Building-Harness the Power of Sports for Nation’s Holistic Development.”
Shankar stated that CPCL has secured licence from Government of India for retail marketing-a milestone that marks the beginning of CPCL’s direct connection with customers on the ground.
“To make the process transparent and efficient, today we are launching an online portal for the selection of dealers, setting the stage for a new era where CPCL’s products will reach people directly, under our own name.” he added. Rohit Kumar Agrawala, Director (Finance), P. Kannan, Director (Operations), Devraj, Assistant Commandant, CISF, Collectives and employees of CPCL, CISF Jawans with families participated in the function. Long Service Awards and Suggestion Awards were present on the occasion. Cultural programmes by children added colour to the celebrations.
