Paradip Port Organizes Drug-Free India Campaign

Paradip Port Authority (PPA) on 13 August 2025 organized a special pledge ceremony and a seminar as part of the nationwide Drug-Free India Campaign (Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan), a flagship initiative of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India.
The event, held at Administrative Building, was aimed at raising awareness about the dangers of substance abuse and promoting a healthy, drug-free lifestyle among employees, stakeholders, and the local community.
The program commenced with a solemn pledge, administered by P. L. Haranadh, Chairman, PPA, where all participants vowed to stay away from all forms of substance abuse and to work towards making their families and society drug-free. The pledge emphasized the importance of individual commitment in combating this social menace.
The Paradip Sakshyarata Samity (PSS), the social welfare arm of Paradip Port Authority, conducted a seminar to discuss, create awareness and celebrate the 5th Anniversary of “Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan” to inspire and create awareness to all members of various Mahila Samities and Self-Help Groups.
Rama Chandra Pradhan, Secretary of PSS, presided over the programme. Dr. Runu Singh, Sr. Medical Officer from PPA Hospital, attended as Chief Guest, alongside Preeti Arati Parija, Rashmi Acharya, and Premalata Barik, who attended as Guests of Honor.
The guests delivered speeches on the harmful effects of drug consumption, highlighting how it impacts our overall health, social, and economic conditions, as well as the progress of our country. They strongly emphasized that creating awareness among people, providing proper treatment and rehabilitation, and implementing strong laws against drug smugglers and providers can be major steps to stop drug abuse in the country. Ashok Mohapatra, Project Coordinator for PSS, played the role of master of ceremony. A large number of women from various women’s organizations participated.
