Facilitation Centre of Customs Preventive Division Cuddalore Inaugurated at Maraimalai Nagar

On 22 October 2021, Dr. Uma Shanker, IRS, Chief Commissioner of Customs (Prev) Zone Trichy, inaugurated the Facilitation Centre of Customs Preventive Division Cuddalore at Maraimalai Nagar.

According to a media release, the facilitation centre is inaugurated to furthermore enhance the trade facilitation measures carried out by Trichy Customs (Prev) Zone in line with Government’s effort to promote Atmanirbhar Bharat.

It will enhance the efficiency in service delivery of the Indirect Tax administration in line with Government’s policy of “Ease of Doing Business “and will largely benefit the manufacturer- exporters operating in the above said areas, by attending to the Customs work like Acceptance of Bond/LUT/B-17 Bond and verification of details for the import of goods at concessional rate of duty rules, works relating to Brand Rate of Drawback, Issuance of Warehousing Certificate, Procurement Certificate, Installation Certificate under certain Schemes etc.

The move going to benefit the trade fraternity immensely as they can save their precious time, energy and cut in transportation cost to the extent of at least (150 KM + 150 KM) in a day i.e. the distance between Maraimalai Nagar and Cuddalore is 150 Kms.

Besides, this will also result in hassle free exports paving way for increased earnings of Foreign Exchange reserves further. It will not only cut the cost of transaction for them but also will result in speedy completion of important Customs works.

Maraimalai Nagar being one of the big industrial areas and envisaged as full-fledged Satellite Town and also as a countervailing force to control future immigration into the city, this Facilitation Centre will enhance the Customs services to its surrounding Stake holders and thereby contribute towards Nation building activities.

Apart from achieving reduction in Dwell Time for Customs procedural compliance for their EXIM activity, the Facilitation Centre will also help in EXIM Community to get their queries and doubts clarified by Department Officers located here.

Addressing the gathering on the occasion, Dr. Uma Shanker, Chief Commissioner of Customs (Prev) Zone Trichy, reassured Customs Department’s commitment towards trade facilitation. Representatives of trade also spoke on the occasion and thanked the Department for the great initiative in delivering the Customs services. Commissioner of Customs (Prev) Trichy, trade fraternity and officers of Customs Preventive Division Cuddalore attended the programme. Earlier Shri D. Anil, IRS, Commissioner of Customs (Prev) Trichy, welcomed the gatherings and Dr. A. Venkadesh Babu, IRS, delivered the vote of thanks.
