Chennai Port Hosts French-Flagged Cruise Ship M.V. Le Champlain

M.V LE CHAMPLAIN, a French Flag vessel from Trincomalee, Sri Lanka, is the first cruise ship after the pandemic to reach the Chennai Port on 10 January 2023. The cruise with 118 crews and 108 Passengers sets sail back to Trincomalee, Sri Lanka today.

The Tour Operators informed that the passengers have plans to visit St. Fort George Museum, Santhome Cathedral, Kapaleeswarar temple and Dakshin Chitra.

Shri. SUNIL PALIWAL, I.A.S, Chairperson, Chennai Port Authority emphasized the historical importance of Chennai Port and the role played to promote International Cruise Tourism in India. He specified the various facilitating measures under taken by the Central and State Governments, Vessel Agent M/s. GAC Shipping (India) Private Limited and other agencies. He hoped that with the modernized Cruise Terminal the Port may attract more such Cruise vessels in the post pandemic period. This information was provided by the Secretary of Chennai Port Authority.
