CCBA Holds 68th AGM in Chennai, Reaffirms Commitment to Trade Facilitation and Members’ Interests

With the active participation of members, office bearers and Executive Committee members, Chennai Customs Brokers Association (CCBA) organized its 68th Annual General Meeting (AGM) at Hotel Ambassador Pallava in Chennai on 29 August 2026.
CCBA President S. Natarajan, while presenting the Annual Report for 2025–2026, highlighted the Association’s major activities, initiatives and achievements during the year.
He outlined CCBA’s continuous engagement with Customs, Ports, Terminals, Custodians, CFSs, Shipping Lines, Partner Government Agencies and other stakeholders on important policy and operational matters.
He also highlighted the Association’s numerous representations, stakeholder meetings, awareness programmes and trade-facilitation initiatives aimed at resolving clearance difficulties, improving cargo movement, reducing transaction costs and promoting ease of doing business.
He appreciated the positive cooperation extended by Customs and other stakeholders in addressing several issues represented by CCBA.
Secretary R.N. Sekar briefed the members on the current operational and procedural challenges at Sea and Air Cargo and the sustained efforts being made by CCBA to resolve them.
He explained that the Association continues to take up members’ issues at the appropriate levels with Customs and other concerned authorities and stakeholders to find practical and timely solutions.
He emphasised CCBA’s commitment to faster clearance, reduction of transaction costs and minimising operational difficulties for Customs Brokers and the EXIM trade, while maintaining constructive engagement with all stakeholders.
During the interactive session, President Natarajan also briefed members on CCBA’s sustained efforts against the collection of Lift-on/Lift-off (LO/LO) charges through nominated Empty Container Depots. He informed the members that the issue has largely been addressed through Customs intervention, except in respect of one shipping line where the collection continues.
Members were invited to give their views for arriving at a united and unanimous course of action in the larger interest of the fraternity and EXIM trade.
The AGM witnessed active and meaningful participation from members, who raised various issues concerning the Customs Broking and logistics fraternity and offered constructive suggestions. The interaction reflected the unity, involvement and collective strength of CCBA members in addressing industry challenges.
The AGM concluded with CCBA reaffirming its commitment to protecting the interests of Customs Brokers, strengthening stakeholder engagement and working towards a transparent, efficient, cost-effective and trade-facilitative customs clearance ecosystem.
