Kamarajar Port Commemorates 124th Birth Anniversary of Perunthalaivar Kamarajar

Kamarajar Port Limited (KPL), one of the major ports under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways (MoPSW), Government of India, solemnly commemorated the 124th Birth Anniversary of Perunthalaivar Kamarajar, one of India’s most respected statesmen and former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, at its Administrative Office on 15 July 2026.

The event was marked by a ceremonial garlanding of Perunthalaivar Kamarajar’s portrait by J.P. Irene Cynthia, IAS, Managing Director of KPL, in the presence of senior officials and employees of the Port.

The gathering fondly remembered Perunthalaivar Kamarajar’s exemplary leadership, simplicity, integrity and selfless service to the nation.

Revered as the “Kalvi Thanthai” (Father of Education), his pioneering initiatives, particularly the expansion of educational opportunities and the Mid-Day Meal Scheme, transformed the lives of millions and laid the foundation for the social and economic progress of Tamil Nadu.

As a mark of respect, employees paid floral tributes and reaffirmed their commitment to uphold the values of honesty, dedication, public service and inclusive development that Perunthalaivar Kamarajar exemplified throughout his life.
