The Consular Corps Association of Mumbai (CCAM), in collaboration with the Honorary Consular Corps Diplomatique (HCCD), hosted a diplomatic evening at World Trade Center Mumbai, with Jaykumar Rawal, Minister of Protocol and Marketing, Government of Maharashtra, gracing the occasion as the Chief Guest. The event brought together members of the diplomatic community, government representatives, and international partners to strengthen dialogue and collaboration.
Jaykumar Rawal appreciated the spirit of the consular community and remarked, “The Consular Corps plays an important role in strengthening international relations, promoting trade not just through policy, but through people-to-people connections. The Government of Maharashtra remains committed to working closely with the diplomatic community to encourage greater collaboration and global partnerships,” adding that he extended his best wishes to the new leadership of CCAM while acknowledging the valuable contributions of the outgoing team.
Dr. Vijay Kalantri, Chairman, HCCD Mumbai and Vice Dean, CCAM, reflected on the unique role played by the consular community and said, “The Consular Corps is not just about representation; it is about building bridges. Whether it is trade, dialogue, or cultural exchange, we are constantly working to bring countries closer. Mumbai, in that sense, has truly evolved into a vibrant hub for global engagement.”
“There is a strong association between CCAM and HCCD, noting that both institutions have consistently worked together to promote trade, support delegations, and deepen international ties in Maharashtra” added Dr. Kalantri.
Sven Östberg, Incoming Dean of CCAM and Consul General of Sweden, said, “In today’s interconnected world, diplomacy has become more collaborative than ever. It is no longer limited to formal engagements; it is about building partnerships, exchanging ideas, and finding common ground across cultures and economies. Platforms like CCAM play a vital role in bringing this community together. I look forward to working closely with all members to further strengthen these connections and create new avenues for cooperation and growth.”
The evening also marked a moment of appreciation for Mr. Martin Maier, Outgoing Dean of CCAM, recognizing his efforts in bringing the consular community together and strengthening engagement across sectors. The event witnessed strong participation from the consular community, serving as a meaningful platform for dialogue, reflection, and renewed commitment towards strengthening international partnerships, further reinforcing Mumbai’s position as a key center for global engagement.
