IMU Hosts International Conference on Digital Transformation in Maritime Management

The Indian Maritime University (IMU), a Central University under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Government of India, is hosting AZIMUTH 2026 – Academic Zeal for Innovation in Maritime: Understanding Transformation and Horizons, an international conference dedicated to Digital Transformation and Innovation in Maritime Management. The conference will be held at the IMU Chennai Campus on 12–13 February 2026.
According to a media statement from the IMU, AZIMUTH 2026 will bring together global maritime leaders, policymakers, researchers, technologists, and industry professionals to explore how emerging technologies are reshaping the future of maritime operations, logistics, sustainability, and governance.
The conference aims to foster dialogue on regulatory frameworks, global standards, and governance systems required to support this digital transition while ensuring safety, sustainability, and efficiency across maritime ecosystems.
Malini, V. Shankar, Vice Chancellor, Indian Maritime University, said, “All the initiatives that have been taken are in alignment with what was planned and documented in these. So, it’s a commitment of India to not just put it in paper but actually to implement it, stated by.”

Call for Research & Industry Participation
AZIMUTH 2026 invites academicians, researchers, industry experts, and maritime professionals to submit original research papers aligned with six major thematic tracks:
1. Smart Ports, Logistics & Supply Chain Technologies
2. Maritime Data Science, AI & Predictive Analytics
3. Cybersecurity, Digital Governance & Regulatory Innovation
4. Autonomous Shipping, Smart Navigation & Fleet Operations
5. Sustainability, Circular Economy & Green Maritime Solutions
6. Integrated Transport Ecosystems
Selected papers will be considered for publication in Scopus and Web of Science indexed journals, while all accepted papers will be published in the official conference proceedings with an ISBN. Best Paper Awards will be presented across categories along with cash prizes.
Global Platform for Collaboration
Through keynote addresses, technical sessions, panel discussions, and industry-academia interactions, AZIMUTH 2026 aims to create a collaborative platform to accelerate maritime innovation and digital capability building worldwide.
