In its biennial elections held on 23 November 2025, the Trailer Owners’ Association (TOA) elected T.S. Perumal as the new President of the Association. N. Murthy has been elected as Secretary of the Association.
Besides them, E. Jayachandran become Vice President, T. Manohar as Treasurer, G. Nanda Gopal as Joint Secretary, M. Vinodh Kumar as Assistant Secretary, and P. Thiruvengadam elected as Honorary President of the association.
The Trailer Owners’ Association (TOA), Chennai, is one of the oldest and most influential transport bodies in Tamil Nadu, established in 1968 to represent the interests of heavy commercial vehicle owners, particularly those operating 40-foot and multi-axle container trailers.
The association plays a critical role in the state’s logistics ecosystem, handling a significant share of EXIM cargo movement to and from Chennai Port, Kamarajar Port, and other ports in the vicinity. Over the decades, TOA has been at the forefront of negotiations with port authorities, the Tamil Nadu government, and the Central government on issues such as port entry passes, parking facilities, toll charges, overloading penalties, diesel pricing, and insurance reforms.
Known for its strong unity and disciplined membership, the association has successfully prevented fragmentation that affects many similar bodies and continues to be a powerful voice in shaping policies affecting road transport and coastal shipping in southern India
