Vigilance Awareness Week 2025 Concludes at Chennai, Kamarajar Ports

The valedictory function of the Vigilance Awareness Week 2025 was held on 20 November 2025 at Chennai Port Authority.

S. Murali Krishnan, IDAS, CVO, Chennai Port Authority & Kamarajar Port Limited (KPL), highlighted the various initiatives taken by the Central Vigilance Commission in the areas of Preventive Vigilance, including Capacity Building, Asset Management and Digital Initiatives.

He also outlined the measures undertaken to create awareness among the public and stakeholders. Further, he briefed the activities and initiatives implemented by the Vigilance Departments of both Chennai Port Authority and Kamarajar Port Limited during the past year.

In her keynote address, J.P. Irene Cynthia, IAS, Managing Director, KPL, commended the efforts taken by the Vigilance officials and stressed the importance of observing Vigilance Awareness Week with a commitment to ethical conduct and transparency.

She urged everyone to become a “Vigilance Ambassador”, actively preventing corruption and promoting awareness and ethical behaviour within the organisation and society.

In his address, S. Viswanathan, IAS, Deputy Chairperson, ChPA, emphasised the significance of technology-driven systems, e-governance tools, and digital workflows as strong enablers in reducing discretion and enhancing fairness. Highlighting the importance of preventive vigilance, he encouraged employees to adopt best practices such as strict adherence to procedures and maintaining complete transparency in administration.

Delivering the presidential address, Sunil Paliwal, IAS, Chairperson, ChPA & Chairman, KPL, appreciated the various initiatives taken by CVO, ChPA & KPL and stated that the theme “Vigilance: Our Shared responsibility” reflects the collective duty of employees, stakeholders and citizens to uphold transparency, integrity and accountability.

He reaffirmed the organizations commitment to ethical governance, zero tolerance towards corruption and strengthening a culture of integrity and transparency. He also stated that corruption is not only about accepting bribe but also includes failing to perform one’s duties diligently and responsibly.

He emphasized to the student community that individuals who uphold honesty must always be respected and duly recognised. He has also distributed Prizes to the winners of the competitions held during VAW-2025.
