World Environment Day Celebrated at New Mangalore Port

New Mangalore Port Trust (NMPT) celebrated the World Environment Day on 05 June 2018.  Shri Suresh Heblikar, an actor, director, producer and NGO- Eco watch, was the Chief Guest of the function and delivered key note address.

In his address, Heblikar stressed  upon the need for Sustainable development, Rain water harvesting, renewable resources for energy  and its advantages to the society. He further informed every individual to live in harmony with Nature and Mother earth has enough to all in need, but not to be greedy.

Shri Suresh P. Shirwadkar, Chairman i/c, in his presidential address said that Port has done a lot to implement green initiatives.  He has added that the port has installed 5.2 MW Solar Power Plant and is now generating 90% of the power requirement.  He also informed that Port would go for green initiatives in a big way.

Shri H.N. Aswath, Chief Engineer (Civil) welcomed the gathering. Sri P.Srinath, Sr. Marine Engineer extended Vote of thanks. Smt. Bhagyalaxmi, Asst. Executive Engineer (Civil) was the Master of Ceremony.
