Paradip Port Trust (PPT) began the observance of “Swachhta Pakhwada” from 16 September to 30 September 2019, as per instructions from the Ministry of Shipping, Government of India.
It started with an awareness rally on Swachhta and plastic waste management, which was flagged off from PPT Administrative Building by Shri Rinkesh Roy, Chairman, PPT. HODs and other senior officers of PPT were present on the occasion.
Lady volunteers of Paradip Sakshyrata Samiti went around local market area and convinced the shop-keepers and vendors to stop the use of single use plastic or polythene. A Street Play –“Chakulia Panda” was performed by local cultural organisation – CANMASS, in the locality to make the denizens aware about the plastic menace.
PPT has already drawn up a detailed Action plan for the period, as part of Swachhta Pakhwada viz., awareness drive among workers and staff of all Departments & Divisions of PPT and local community, cleaning activities in colonies and sites, organisation of swachhta awareness workshop in local schools, cleanliness drive in local slums, display of swachhta awareness hoardings and digital display at important locations in the township, with special emphasis on the theme “Plastic Waste Management”.
