Sattva Logistics Sponsors CII’s Outreach Programme on GST in Puducherry

The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Pondicherry Chapter has organized an outreach programme on the customs procedures Post GST in Puducherry recently. The programme was sponsored by Sattva Logistics Group, a leading supply chain player in the region.

The event, which was a joint effort of CII, Indian Customs and Sattva, designed to impart to the trade and industry the current developments in customs procedures and documentation post GST, RFID-based Electronic Sealing, AEO programme structure and its benefit for the Exim trade upon obtaining the AEO certification.


The meeting was chaired by Mr Ashok IRS, Commissioner of Customs, Trichy Commissionerate. Mr Ashok IRS, Commissioner of Customs, Trichy Commissionerate, gave the inaugural address thanked CII for organising this outreach programme. He also thanked Mr S Narasimhan, Vice Chairman ,Sattva Logistics Group, for its sponsorship.

He emphatically conveyed that the programme was effort towards handholding exim trade community by customs in taking forward the new initiatives of the department and exchange of information and views in successfully implementing the intention of the new initiatives of the department.

Mr Ramesh, IRS Assistant Commissioner of Customs, Cuddalore Division, made a brief presentation on the new field formations, proposed to take effect from 1 January 2018.

He made a thrust on the exim fraternity, to come forward and get certified under the AEO, programme and stated that it will further their ease of doing business module.

He also made a brief on the E – Sealing of Self Sealed Export Containers and informed the number of exporters till date whose premises have been certified for Self Sealing by the Commissionerate.

Mr Sudendhra of IB track, Customs notified vendor for supply of E- Seals made a detailed presentation on the E sealing practical usage and thanked the exporters who have registered with them for procurement of Self Seal. He also assured that post December 2017, the requisite number of E- Seals as ordered by the exporters would be available.

A presentation on the RFID tracking was given by Mr Kumar Devaraj, AGM logistics delivery, Sattva Logistics group. The RFID tracking module was explained in detail and how the truck tracking is being done on online basis was also shown to the audience.

It was followed by a Q & A session and the exim traders interacted with the customs and expressed their inhibition which they carried on the E sealing procedures. Customs officials present at the event also clarified about the availability of other facilities to the trade. Members of the trade, who attended the event, thanked the organizer CII and sponsor Sattva for arranging this outreach programme. The meeting ended with vote of thanks.
