Russian Railways Will Help Building a Railway Line in Mongolia

Sergey Stolyarov, Acting Director General of RZD International LLC, and Damdinsuren Zhigzhidnyamaa, Head of JSC Ulaanbaatar Railway (JSC UBTZ), signed an agreement for technical consulting services on the implementation of the Tavantolgoi-Dzunbayan railway construction project in Mongolia on 3 December 2019.

Under the agreement, RZD International, a subsidiary of Russian Railways (RZD), in partnership with one of the Russian design institutes, will provide technical consulting services on the implementation of the Tavantolgoi-Dzunbayan railway construction project, as well as recommendations on the organization of construction and the organization of train movement along the 414 km long line.

This new railway line will be connected to the central line of JSC Ulaanbaatar Railway, which will provide new opportunities for the transportation of coking coal from Tavantolgoi, a large coal deposit in the south of Mongolia. The term for the implementation of the service contract is 12 months.
