Republic Day Celebration at New Mangalore Port Trust

New Mangalore Port Trust celebrated the 71st Republic Day with fervor, passion and gaiety. The entire Port fraternity of NMPT participated in the celebrations held at the stadium ground of the port. A vibrant parade by the CISF unit Panambur, NMPT Fire Service, Scouts and Guides of K.V.NO-Panambur and NMPT School gave momentum to the proceedings.

Shri Akkaraju Venkata Ramana, Chairman NMPT, presided over the celebrations and reviewed the parade. In his address, he urged the port fraternity to rekindle the values instilled in the society by the founding fathers of the Nation.

He spoke on importance of integrity, honesty, morality and the need to remain law abiding citizens, and thus contribute in every manner to the growl of India. The Chairman highlighted the achievements of the port and its contribution as a catalyst in the economic growth of the region. He also spelt on the plans of NMPT to bring in greater volumes of cargo and improve the service: especially towards Cruise Tourism.

A colorful cultural program by the children from various schools in Panambur raised the patriotic fervor in the audience. The Moghaveer community of displaced families was given scholarships and Life jackets were presented to the select members of the community.
