Paradip Port Starts Bus Service Inside Prohibited Area For Safety of Employees, Port Users

To ensure safety of employees and provide a clean means of transportation, Paradip Port Trust (PPT) on 13 September 2019 inaugurated its first fleet of four buses to be run in collaboration with Odisha State Road Transport Corporation inside the prohibited area.

The port management will bear all the expenses. Shri Saroj Kumar Das, Chief Mechanical Engineer, PPT flagged off the buses at Gate No. 4, in the presence of Shri Rinkesh Roy, Chairman, PPT and other HODs and senior officers.

According to a media statement, the buses will ply in the route from Gate No. 2, 4 & 5 on 24×7 basis. The Chairman, PPT told that two-wheelers, including bicycles will be completely stopped, inside prohibited area from 1 October. Other stevedores and port-users are also advised to use four-wheelers for transportation of their employees. Thus, the Paradip Port has become the first Major Port to implement such a facility for the safety of its employees.
