New Mangalore Port Celebrates Independence Day

The 73rd Independence Day was celebrated at New Mangalore Port Trust (NMPT) by the port employees, children of KV No.1 Panambur, DKZP Primary School and NMPT English Medium School on 15 August 2019.

An impressive parade by the officials of CISF Unit of NMPT, Fire Department and the Scouts & Guides of School children, following the unfurling of the National Flag, was not deterred by the rain.

Addressing the audience, Shri A.V. Ramana, Chairman of the Port hailed the contribution of the National heroes and those heroes of Karnataka who earned us the freedom that we celebrate today. He listed out the achievements and contributions of the port towards the development of the region and also listed out his vision for the growth of the port in the next 5 years.

The Chairman assured the audience that the port will strive to remain in the forefront of all the programmes, Schemes and initiatives of the Union Govt, with special emphasis on improving the rating in the Ease of Doing Business, Implementation of the National Water Mission and Swachh Bharat Mission. He urged the port employees and the children to strive for excellence, to give greater meaning to the freedom and thus propel the nation towards greatness. The celebrations culminated with a grand cultural programme by the children of the four schools and the Port cultural Society, where the spirit of patriotism and the need to imbibe nationalistic feelings were expressed with ardour and emotion.
