Mormugao Port Trust in association with Port Town Jaycees, Mormugao, organised a three-day event for the students of the high schools and higher secondary schools of Mormugao and Vasco Port town. The three-day event focussed on the awareness among the student community on environment protection and the role the students can play in making a difference in the society with respect to environmental protection.
The event received an over whelming response from the schools and higher secondary schools, and a total of 250 students from secondary schools and 120 students from higher secondary schools participated in the event.
The event provided an open platform to the young minds to focus their attention on the importance of environmental protection not only within their school premises but in and around their residential colonies and the society.
Exhibiting a competitive spirit, the students took part in Quiz competition, Drawing competition, Essay writing competition, all focusing on the topic of my Environment and my responsibility. On the final day of the three-day event, the school students participated in an intellectual debate and expressed their minds freely on the aspects of various topics such as ban on soft drinks, ban on fireworks, eco tourism, development of tribals, ban on plastics, and various environment related topics. It was interesting to see the young students express their concern for the environment protection.
While Shri Gaurish Sankwalkar, Chief Officer MMC, was the chief guest at the inaugural function on 9 July 2019, Shri Dileep Parab, (M/s. Dileep Parab & Associates Corporate Trainers & Management Consultants) graced the concluding day programme on 11 July 2019.
The event was a grand success and came in for praise from the teachers and students of the participating schools. The Port Management will continue their efforts in future by organising such awareness programmes to bring about awareness amongst the public on the importance of protecting our environment and make the planet a better place for living.
The Port Management has offered attractive cash prizes for the winners and the same will be distributed at a grand Independence Day celebrations in Port on 15th August 2019.
