Mormugao Port Trust Conducts Rally at Headland Sada

The Swachchta Hi Seva Campaign organized by the Mormugao Port Trust administration from 15th September to 2nd October 2018 gathered further momentum   when  the  Port Officers, staff and employees were joined by a strong contingent of 80 students of the Deepvihar Higher Secondary School, for a Rally in and around the Headland Sada residential areas on 20th September 2018.

The Rally was flagged off by Shri Mohan Kumar,  Secretary (i/c),   in the presence of Smt. Mrunal Korgaokar, Principal Deepvihar Higher Secondary School, Shri  Sandesh Mesta,  Smt. Sarika Palkar and Damodar Kaskar MMC all MMC councilors from the region. The MMC councilors extended their full support to the Port administration in their endeavour  and joined the rally to bring about awareness on cleanliness  in the Municipal wards at Headland Sada. The rally was a success and attracted the attention of the locals living in the area.

The rally which was flagged off at the Depvihar Higher Secondary School premises wended its way from the Hanuman temple area, Prince Bakery, residential areas of Headland Sada region, Sada Junction, the Port administrative building area and finally culminated at the starting point in the Higher Secondary School campus. The students and employees carried placards prominently highlighting the importance of cleanliness. The students raised catchy slogans to get the message across for the residents, on cleanliness and a green environment. The Secretary (i/c) in his brief address to the students and staff complimented their efforts and emphasized on the need to carry forward the mission in their individual capacity even beyond the campaign period.

On the following day, the Port officers, staff and employees numbering around 100 conducted a cleanliness drive in and around the MPT shopping complex, the children’s park and impressed upon the locals the importance of maintaining clean surroundings. The entire area was cleaned of all the litter of garbage and plastics and disposed off systematically.  The campaign will continue with more such cleanliness drives  and other public activities.
