The Officers, staff and employees of Mormugao Port Trust will observe ‘Swachchta Hi Seva Campaign 2018’ from 15 September 2018, to 2 October 2018. Capt. Manoj Joshi, Dy. Conservator MPT, officially inaugurated the ‘Swachchta Hi Seva Campaign 2018’ on 15th Sept 2018, in the Board Room in the presence of the Heads of Departments, Officers and staff. Shri G.R. Gani, Superintending Engineer Civil Engineering Department is the Nodal Officer for the Campaign.
A detailed programme to undertake cleanliness drive on a daily basis not only in the Port premises, but also in the Port town neighborhood has been chalked out for the ‘Swachchta Hi Seva Campaign’ fortnight and the same was read out to all present at the inaugural ceremony.
Addressing the Officers, staff, and employees the Chief Guest, highlighting the quote of Mahatma Gandhi ‘Cleanliness is next to Godliness’ said ‘we should observe cleanliness in our day to day life and inculcate good habits of cleanliness. We have just taken the pledge for cleanliness, and to administer the same to 100 more persons. In these times of Social Media, I don’t think it should be difficult for us to fulfill the task. Our ports are the first point of landing to any visitor. So we have a much bigger responsibility towards cleanliness as we are all ambassadors of our nation. Let us begin with keeping the premises clean, so that it gives the visitors a good first impression. Let us all devote two hours a week to achieve the goal of cleanliness’.
The Cleanliness Pledge on the occasion was administered to all present in Hindi by Shri S.K.S. Hegde, CME (i/c) and in English by Smt. L.A. Mathew, Chief Engineer MPT. The Vote of thanks was proposed by Smt. Roopa Nadkarni, Asst. Engineer, Civil Engineering Department. The ceremony ended with the singing of the National Anthem. The function was compered by Shri Edward Fernandes.
