Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT), the premier container port in the country under the administrative control of Ministry of Shipping, Government of India and located in Nhava Sheva, Maharashtra, has achieved a new milestone on 9 March by surpassing the last year’s highest volume of 4.5 million TEUs by cloaking 4.51 million TEUs.
According to a media statement from the port authorities, the achievement is an all-time high record for the port since inception.
JNPT has emerged as a preferred port of call for EXIM trade as it has been continuously creating an enabling business environment for seamless trade. Many ease of doing business measures and emphasis on Direct Port Delivery (DPD) has led to substantial savings in time and costs for the trade. JNPT is confident of scaling new heights in its performance when the financial year closes on March 31, 2018.
Commenting on the new milestone, Shri Neeraj Bansal, Chairman-in-charge, JNPT said, “We are delighted to achieve a new landmark today thanks to great support from all stakeholders of JNPT. At JNPT, we are focussed on creating trade-friendly environment so that EXIM trade flourishes in a seamless way.”
Shri Bansal congratulated all JNPT staff and other stakeholders for enabling JNPT to achieve a new landmark and expressed confidence that the port would continue to set new benchmark in the coming months.
JNPT is focussed on providing global standards of service to its customers and improve the trade between India and rest of the world which will contribute to the growth of the economy, Mr Bansal added.
