FIATA WORLD CONGRESS-2018 in New Delhi gave the perfect opportunity for logistics partners to exchange views on technology changes and to explore new ideas for developing business, Basil Pietersen Sr.Vice President, FIATA, has said.
Mr Petersen said this during an exclusive interview with Port Wings Maritime Weekly on the sidelines of three-day mega international evening held in India for the first time.
International Federation of Freight Forwarders Association (FIATA) an eighty year old association of Freight Forwarders, Custom Brokers all over world convened its world Congress first time in India at New Delhi between 26th and 29th September 2018. Around 1200 delegates participated in the events out of which around 500 delegates from foreign Countries. The Conference concluded with a press meet on 29 September 2018.
As part of the event, there were different events conducted in the FWC like Young Logistics Professionals Program (YLP), B2B meetings, presentation, seminars etc.,
Especially, the event YLP a unique one for young logistics professionals below 35 years, has given opportunity for young professionals across the world to interact with each other to expand the scope of their business and to exchange the technology changes in countries.
SUMMING UP IN PRESS MEET:
On the closing day of the Congress, a Press meet was organized attended by FIATA office bearers — Mr.Turgut Erkeskin, Sr.Vice President, Zhao Huxiang, Mr.Robert Voltman, Secretary General, Mr.Basil Peterson, Sr.Vice President, Hans Guntter Kersten,Director General.
Port Wings got the opportunity to conduct exclusive interview with the office bearers of FIATA. During the Interview, the leaders said the FIATA World Congress -2018 attended by 1152 delegates across world and more than a third were foreign delegates and it was the largest gathering of people in the history of FIATA World Congress so far.
The delegates had opportunity to learn the business expansion in India and in other Countries. Also, the meeting gave the chance to understand every country’s policy, rules and regulations on establishing business through collaborations. Further, the Congress was open to business, diversity in business, presentation , sharing of technology changes, continuous learning process.
On a question what the trade can expect from FIATA World Congress 2019 to be held in Cape Town, South Africa, Basil pietersen , Chairman, South African Association for Freight Forwarders (SAAFF) said that he feels proud that his country will be hosting the 2019 Congress at Cape Town, South Africa.
Basil pietersen stated: “There may be changes in technology and it is continuous. Every business people have to adopt the changes. FIATA -2018 has given opportunity to have one to one interaction in every stage of the event and FIATA -2019 South Africa will have scope for further learning process for Logistics Companies on change in technology, business trend in world, policy changes etc., These are all the agendas the FIATA -2019 Cape Town propose to add.”
He further said his country is eager to welcome more delegates from India. All the delegates praised the tradition and culture of India and the hospitality extended by the organizers — FFFAI.
