DMICDC Logistics Data Services at V. O. Chidambaranar Port Commences


Port Wings News Network: V. O. Chidambaranar Port Trust has launched the DMICDC Logistics Data Services to facilitate container tracking service at two container terminals M/s. PSA-Sical (TCT) & M/s. DBGT on 21 November 2018. Shri.N.Vaiyapuri, Deputy Chairman, V. O. Chidambaranar Port Trust flagged off the Service in the presence of Shri. U. Rajendran, Traffic Manager, Capt. Bhabatosh Chand, Deputy Conservator, Shri. J. David Raja, President, Tuticorin Chapter, NACFS; V.O.C. Port Trust; Shri. Surajit Sarkar, COO, DLDS; Shri. Eric Lavenu, Chief Executive Officer, DBGT; Shri.Deep K Reddy, Terminal Head, PSA SICAL & Shri. Ashok Singhdeo, Deputy Manager, NEC Technologies India and other Senior Officers of the Port at the Ports green gate complex.

While addressing the gathering, Shri. N.Vaiyapuri, Deputy Chairman, stated that the shippers would be benefitted by the Logistics Data Bank Services in terms of the ability to track and analyze the movement of Containers on intermediate points crossed and time taken. Logistics Data Bank will provide the service of tracking the containers in near real time basis using Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) while containers are being transported through railways and trucks on major highways through its portal www.ldb.co.in. Tracking and viewing the movement of containers across the Ports to the ICDs and end users would be provided to the users against the payment of MUC.

Five percent (5%) of the total MUC shall be passed on to the BOT terminals operating there at for collecting the MUC. No royalty / revenue share is payable by the BOT terminals operating there at to the Ports Trust on the MUC collected by the BOT terminals.

DLD’s flagship solution, Logistics Data Bank (LDB), is a single window container tracking solution aimed at improving operations in Indian container logistics. It began its services at India’s south- eastern corridor from November 01 this year, covering the ports of Chennai, Vishapatnam and Krishnapatnam, with its ICT-based services. LDB has also extended its operations to Cochin Port Trust and New Mangalore Port Trust. Its container tracking solution has significantly benefited various stakeholders in the supply chain operations, by considerably reducing the port dwell time and overall transportation time for export and import of shipments.
