Chennai Port Trust Launches Pensioners Grievance Portal

Chennai Port is the third oldest port amongst the 12 Major Ports of India having 15310 Pensioners and Family Pensioners under the rolls.  The expenditure incurred by Chennai Port for Pensioners and Family Pensioners is around INR 27 Cr per month which adds to INR 324 Cr per annum.

For the purpose of promoting welfare measures and to increase transparent mechanisms in dealing with Pensioners of Chennai Port, the use of Information Technology has been leveraged and a grievance redress mechanism has been put in place for Pensioners of Chennai Port.

From February 21, 2019, this portal shall be hosted in the website of Chennai Port Trust viz. http://www.chennaiport.gov.in

The said facility is a One-Time-Password(OTP) based initiative where any registered Pensioner(i.e. a Pensioner whose mobile number is registered with Chennai Port) can submit a grievance with the objective to expedite redress of grievance in fast pace. The facility also promotes the ‘Ease of Doing Business’ initiative of the Government of India and ensures effective monitoring of the grievances by senior management of Chennai Port.

Salient features of this facility include: Registration of Grievance by the Pensioner using his / her mobile for OTP; Forwarding the Grievance Registered to the Pension Section through the system; Assignment of the Grievance to relevant Department by the Pension Section; Addressing the Grievance by the concerned Department; Update of status of the Registered Grievance using the system, which the Pensioner can view using OTP based facility; For each and every action an SMS is sent to the Pensioner; Grievance not attended within 15 days will be escalated to the Top Management; Feedback on the disposal of Grievance can be provided by the Pensioner.

The Pensioners Grievance Portal was inaugurated on 21.02.2019 by senior most pensioners Shri P R Narasimhan &Shri K Damodaran. Shri Narasimhan joined Chennai Port Trust in the year 1955 and retired in the year 1991 as Deputy Chairman after serving Chennai Port Trust for 26 years. Shri Damodaran is 96 years old and he joined Chennai Port Trust in the year 1947 and retired in the year 1980 as Khalasi HS Gr.II from Engineering Department after serving Chennai Port Trust for 33 years.

The Pensioner’s Grievance Portal was inaugurated in the presence of Shri P Raveendran, Chairman, Chennai Port Trust. A live demo was given to the Pensioners in the Pension Grievance Portal. Pensioners appreciated the initiative and expressed their satisfaction.
