Chennai Port has set another landmark achievement by handling 88,000 Tonnes of Crude Oil on 18.02.2019, from the vessel m.v. NORDIC MOON carrying 1,46,025 Tonnes through the 42” diameter pipeline from Bharathi Dock (BD-III) to CPCL refinery in Manali.
The above achievement surpasses the previous record of 84,000 Tonnes discharged from the vessel m.v. GIANNIS at BD- III on 16.02.2019. This significant handling of the Crude Oil replicates the ports capability and the confidence among the trade.
Shri. P Raveendran, Chairman, Chennai Port Trust appreciated M/s. Chennai Petroleum Corporation Limited (CPCL), in taking this 42”pipeline project and expressed that handling through 42”pipeline will cut-down the handling cost and time.
VISIT OF CRUISE VESSEL M.V. SILVER DISCOVERER
M.V SILVER DISCOVERER, a modern Bahamas flag cruise vessel arrived at Chennai Port on 18.02.2019 with 100 crews and 70 Passengers to Chennai from Visakapatnam and is set to sail with 86 passengers to Visakapatnam on the same day. The facilities on board include jogging track, swimming pool, gym, beauty salon, restaurant, pool grill, lecture room for meetings and briefings about the destinations and a panoramic lounge. SilverDiscoverer is also equipped with 12 Zodiac boats and a glass-bottom boat for exploration of marine life.
This cruise vessel is berthed at the newly modernized Cruise Passenger Facilitation Centre in Chennai Port.
Shri.P. Raveendran, Chairman Chennai Port Trust welcoming the crew and passengers to Chennai Port, stated that with the state of art Cruise Passenger Terminal, the Port is eagerly looking forward to more such Cruise vessels in future.
