Athletics Meet Concludes at Paradip Port

The 42nd All India and 30th Children Athletics Meet jointly organised by Major Ports Sports Control Board and Paradip Port Sports Council concluded at Gopabandhu Stadium on 19 January 2020.

The host Paradip Port Trust has emerged as Overall Champion and Mumbai Port Trust has emerged as Overall Runners Up. Shri Dinesh Kumar Swain of PPT has become individual Champion in Under-14 Boys category and Miss Shruti Mohapatra of PPT has emerged as individual champion in Under-16 Girls category. In the 4 days sports extravaganza, 250 men, women, children and veteran athletes from 8 Major Ports were vying for the top honours in 125 events.

Shri S.D. Bhanot, DIG, Coast Guard attended the valedictory function as Chief Guest and gave away the prizes. He appealed to the athletes to continue their sportsman spirit and bring more laurels at the national and international levels. Shri Bishnu Charan Mishra, Addl. SP, Shri Molay Dasgupta, Chief Engineer, PPT, Shri Ashok Kumar Sahu, Sr. Dy. CAO, Capt. A.C. Sahu, Harbour Master, were the Guests of Honour. Shri Ranjan Rashmi Beura, Secretary, PPT Sports Council compered the event and Shri Rabi Das, Adviser, Sports extended the vote of thanks. The Meet came to an end with a splendid Fire Crackers Show.

Senior officials and employees from PPT and sports enthusiasts form the port township were present in large numbers.
