All India Major Ports Hockey Tournament Begins in Mumbai

The 39th All India Major Ports Hockey Tournament, 2017-18, organized by Mumbai Port Trust under the aegis of Major Ports Sports Control Board,  was declared open by Mr Devinder Walmiki, India Olympic Hockey Player at the MHA Mahindra Stadium, Churchgate on 2 April 2018 in the august presence of Mr.Yuvraj Walmiki, India International Hockey Player, Mr.Deepak Chaturvedi, ITS, Chief Vigilance Officer, SCI & VOCPT, Mr. R.P. Paibir, Secretary, MbPT & Chairman, Mumbai Port Sports Council, Shri K.G. Nath, FA&CAO & Member, MPSCB and other dignitaries.

In the inaugural match, Mumbai Port Trust beat VOC Port Trust 4-0 with Ravi Panche scoring a brilliant hat-trick and Digvijay Naik rounding off the tally. In the other matches, Visakhapatnam Port Trust beat Paradip Port Trust 5-1 and Chennai Port Trust beat VOC Port Trust 3-0.
