Adani Ennore Container Terminal Commences Operations at Kamarajar Port

Shreyas Shipping & Logistics Ltd commenced the call of their weekly service, PIX 2 with the call of  MV SSL Kochi at Adani Ennore Container Terminal in Kamarajar Port on 4 January 2018. The other partner in the service is Shipping Corporation of India.

The service operates with four vessels – three of Shreyas Shipping & Logistics and one vessel of Shipping Corporation of India. The port rotation of the service is: Ennore (Kamarajar Port) – Kattupalli – Tuticorin – Kochi – Jebel Ali – Mundra – Krishnapatnam – Ennore (Kamarajar Port).

The first phase capacity of the terminal is 0.8 mn TEUs with quay length of 400 meters, 15 mtrs draft, 4000 ground slots, 4 numbers super post panama cranes, 12 e-RTG’s and on dock rail connectivity.

INAUGURAL FUNCTION

The service inaugural function organized at the terminal was well attended by stakeholders and customers comprising of representatives from Shipping Lines, NVOCC’s, Forwarders and CBA’s.

Mr Rajkumar, Head – Marketing, Adani Ennore Container Terminal, welcomed the audience and called upon Capt Jeyaraj, who addressed the gathering and mentioned about the terminal infrastructure and facilities.

He said that the deeper draft and state of art infrastructure, modern handling equipment’s, on dock rail siding and RFID enabled gate operations will add value to the EXIM trade in this region trade with overall operational efficiencies. He added that the initial capacity of the facility is now 0.8 mn TEUs, which will be scaled up to 1.2 mn TEUs.

Earlier, in a brief onboard ceremony held on board the vessel on board MV SSL Kochi, Capt Jeyaraj, Business Unit Head of Adani Ennore Container Terminal welcomed the Master of the Vessel and his crew to Chennai’s New Terminal and thanked Shreyas Shipping & Logistics on this initiative of commencing this service at Adani Ennore Container Terminal.

He assured the service partners of the best possible support to make the service a grand success.  The guaranteed fast connectivity of the service will immensely benefit importers and exporters operating out of Chennai region and its hinterland.

Mr Krishnasamy, Genenral Manager – Operations, Kamarajar Port Ltd, congratulated Adani Ennore Container Terminal and assured of all possible support and assistance as a Concessioning Authority for seamless functioning of the terminal.

Dignitaries representing NACFS, CCBA, FFAI, CHENSAA and CONCOR spoke and wished the Adani Ennore Container Terminal in its endeavor to facilitate the trade in minimizing delays in handling and quicker gate processing with sole objective of ease of doing business.
